The car just 'fits'
Vehicle
2009 Volvo XC70 3.2 4dr Wagon AWD (3.2L 6cyl 6A)
Review
This car if very comfortable to drive. Very solidly built. Quieter and more comfortable ride than the 2006 that I really really liked. Every time I drive the thought "this is a pleasure" comes to me.
Favorite Features
The comfortable seats, the blind spot info system and the phone setup. Great luggage room and very attractive interior.
Suggested Improvements
Halogen headlights and a cross bar system like Subaru's should be standard.

Nice hauler and 21 mpg!
Vehicle
2009 Volvo XC70 T6 4dr Wagon AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 6A)
Review
We bought a demo T6 (4600 miles) to replace our well-used '98 XC (145,000 mi). After shopping the Audi A6, BMW 530xi and Passat 4Motion, we came back to the Volvo due to its edge on cargo size (and utility) and our previous experience with the XC in the snow. We drive the Colo. mountains every weekend in the winter and the Volvo (with snows) is impossible to beat: goes where you point it and stops when you want it to -- inspires a great deal of confidence in bad conditions. The reviews I read about the car's mileage gave me pause, but I'm happy to report that we're getting 21 mpg in mixed driving (with a cargo pod always on the roof). (Same mpg more or less as the smaller 98 XC)
Favorite Features
Cargo capacity, winter capabilities, 21mpg in a pretty large vehicle (with a cargo pod on top). Fairly simple for a large, European luxury vehicle (no nav) -- none of the I-drive or other systems found on the competition. Xenon lights. The tan leather is like butter, but could show some dirt...
Suggested Improvements
Make Xenon lights available without the pricey option package -- it's a major safety factor and I'm surprised Volvo makes you opt in (they're standard on my less costly VW GTI). Go back to a regular key -- what's the point of the doo-hickey in the dash? Last, it's higher than it needs to be.

Couldn't be better, very solid car
Vehicle
2009 Volvo XC70 T6 4dr Wagon AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 6A)
Review
We test drove an XC90R and the XC70 T6, the T6 was buttery smooth, faster, and more refined. Completely outclassed the XC90. Initially the auto trans. was jerky at times and sometimes shifted sluggishly, but after 3 months, we didn't notice it at all, completely smooth. Mileage in the beginning averaged close to 13L/100km, but now is close to 10.5, after 17,000 Km's, and getting better. This is a very solidly built car, tough, comfortable, builds confidence.I can stand up after 9 hrs driving and feel no back pain! Great winter car, with full winter tires, confidently passed many lines of tailgaters on snow covered highway. Reliable, not one issue to date! AWD engages effortlessly, Ex. in snow
Favorite Features
Turbo, this car is fast, and love that dual exhaust growl. Dynaudio stereo is awesome. 4C chassis, norm. soaks up the bumps, sport/adv. for fun. Active cruise control automatically brakes the car, great for rush hour traffic! The Most comfortable seats! 18" Minos wheels. Hideaway storage. AWD, wow!
Suggested Improvements
Maintenance program should have been made available in Canada! Pirelli scorpion tires not the best for winter, (we have a set of Nokian winter tires, excellent)

Solid like always

2009 Volvo XC70 T6 4dr Wagon AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 6A)
Review
Very nice car overall - the T6 is a wonderful engine. The car is very solidly built, very comfortable, quite, upscale in interior material. Also I really love the fact that Volvos are a class by themselves - not the common snob badge that is Mercedes and BMW that people buy to satisfy their egos and that every Tom, Dick and Harry has. Good car all around - and this is from someone who actually owes it.
Favorite Features
Style, interior cabin is gorgeous and beautifully designed, light colour of leather , T6 engine, rear light on all the time, quite interior, the fact that it is NOT a BMW, safety, and the fact that WALLENDER drives it! Well done Volvo. this is the best car they have produced (70/80 range).
Suggested Improvements
I wish the T6 and AWD were available in the V70 - I prefer that car over the elevated, plastic clad XC70. Volvo, please bring back the V70 in a full range as before and don't make us buy the XC70. Also, minor rattle from center stack, sometimes finicky alarm system that goes off for no reason.

A surprise

We already own a 2002 XC70. We decided to get another car and the wife decided she was only getting another XC. The 2002 has been the least hassle car we have owned. We have had a Chevy die in a toll booth, chryslers with ABS computer problems, Jags with various quirks. The only problem with the 02 was a stuck filler door fixed under warranty. I was leery of the reported fuel mileage and can state that to get to 18mpg one has to be going 87 mph. This was the surprise. Normal cruise at 72 mph yielded 25.4 mpg. By the way the T6 goes like stink. The wife is already looking for Mustangs to put the hurt on. I'll be adding further reviews as the mileage adds up. 400 miles so far.
Favorite Features
Seats, headlights, cargo area hold downs, safety features, AWD, stereo, turbo power, kiddie seats, quiet interior, tire slop road isolation
Suggested Improvements
Colors are a little muted, Interior light colored leather is going to get dirty quick.

Great XC again

2009 Volvo XC70 T6 4dr Wagon AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 6A)
Review
This is my fourth XC70 -- I current;y own one in the US and lease another in Europe. I have previously owned a 1999 (which had problems) and a 2001 XC70 which I picked up in Sweden on Volvo's Tourist program. Contrary to the other review here, I am delighted with my new XC70. It is a solid comfortable ride. I did change the tires from the Continentals it came with to Bridgestones. It's a great addition to the lineup.. I do wish it had the Four C suspension. I got misled by the dealer about that.
Favorite Features
I like the Four C suspension on the XC70 I lease in Europe. I also like its 2.6D diesel engine as it gets about 37 mpg. This car handles well and is very comfortable on long trips.
Suggested Improvements
Four C suspension and better tires.

Review
I've owned this car for 14 months and I can't wait for my lease to be up. Wait a couple years before Volvo puts everything together in this car. Every week there is one thing, electronic issues, alert messages, ratles, transmission jumps from one gear to another for no reason and in the mountains the car goes nuts. The dealer says it is normal in this model and Volvo is still trying to improve it. Resale value is horrible, reliability is even worse, check for yourself Consumer reports and see the ratings from the editors at Edmunds. Do not make the same mistake and wait until they do something about it, it is hard to believe that from the past model Volvo has done such a bad job.
Favorite Features
PCC, BLIS, and the seats
Suggested Improvements
Practically everything, fit and finish, shifting, electronics, etc
