Handling and steering are better than the truck-based architecture would suggest, but the smaller V6 just isn't powerful enough.
The ride is fairly soft, with some minor residual shake due to its truck-based chassis. The driving position and seats are acceptable.
While the controls are basic, they are logically arranged and easy to use. There are a lot of storage nooks throughout the cabin. A third-row is here but isn't suitable for adults. A side-hinged rear door blocks the curb as it opens.
The stretched body of the XL-7, done to accommodate a third row, compromises the exterior proportions. Otherwise, the styling and detailing are handsome. Some of the material choices inside, however, look decidedly low-grade.
