Saturn Astra Prices Paid and Buying Experience

Purchased another Astra on purpose this time

I gave my white manual shift XE hatchback (see #4 “unexpectedly purchased an Astra” by pafromfl Jul 30, 2008 7:29 pm) to my daughter and traded in her 2005 Sentra Special Edition automatic with 30,000 miles for a white manual shift sport XR hatchback with 14 miles for $8760 out-the-door. My daughter prefers a manual shift, and I’m happier knowing that she now has ... Read More...

GM's Astra a great performer, inside and out http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08073/864709-28.stm I think this one seems to be reviewed by some hick who has been driving only Ion, Pinto & Chevette all his life :P Cars.com Faceoff: 2008 Mini Cooper S, Saturn Astra, Volvo C30 http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2008/03/carscom-faceoff.html But Astra's ... Re: 2008 ASTRA

Had my 2-door for a little over a month. Got the second silver Astra that rolled into the lot, and sill haven't seen another (even a 4-door) on the road with me. Based on the type of driving I do (mostly commuting at speeds perfectly suited for its modest "go"), I'm really quite impressed with it. As has been said, the seats and interior quality are/is incredible and ... Read More...

Re: 2008 ASTRA [bricknord]

Just wanted to comment on your post. I guess the sales person at the Saturn you went to did not explain why you encountered these hurdles. 1. The conquest is paid to the dealership by GM, the dealership gives you 750 off and then is paid back by GM, they cant bend the rules or they don't get the $750 back. 2. The markup on saturns is the lowest in the industry, as a matter ... Read More...

Re: 2008 ASTRA [walterquint]

Saturn is moving in a new direction. No more dent-free bodies, and three of its current models that I know of are built overseas or, rather, have European roots. Don't know where that leaves Spring Hill, Tennesee, but the days of the cute little S-series wagon are long gone, and European mechanics and dark interiors will be the norm from here on. Maybe it'll be a ... Read More...

Re: 2008 ASTRA [bricknord]

Regrettable, your entire experience. Can't blame Saturn for limiting the conquest cash. However, you deserved the college grad rebate and the GM points, absolutely. Is anyone actually buying this car??? Plenty of lookers, no takers. I've seen the Astra. Like all Saturns, the seats are again too small. The 1.8L Ecotec is too small too. (Why didn't they just ... Re: 2008 ASTRA [socalbmmr]

I went and drove one. Great car. Above and beyond the call. The interior materials quality is outstanding. Doors shut with a solid ka-chunk, not boing. Here is my personal problem with it. I tried to buy one. GM put every hurdle in the the way they could. I'll be buying something else. First, I am exactly the kind of person Saturn, and the Astra in particular, exists ... Read More...

Saturn gets Opel Astra

Suggestion

I'm not going to be posting much here because I already have two late model cars and I'm not in the market. Now that the car is introduced, however, how about moving discussion over to the 2008 Astra thread (ignored since summer). "Saturn gets Opel Astra" is going to look a bit outdated in 2009.
