Porsche Service, there is no comparison.

It has a been a while since I last posted. In any case, for all you current and future Porsche owners. I have five vehicles, three of which are Porsche's. A 996 2002 C4 Conv, 2006 Cayenne Turbo and a 2007 997S Conv. My 996 has had past issues with oil leaks, not much in volume but a concern nevertheless especially because of RMS issues. About a year and a half ago I noticed, ... Read More...

Article Comments - 2009 Nissan GT-R vs. 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo

Re: Article Comments - 2009 Nissan GT-R vs. 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo [speed6driver]

There's a certain degree of mystery and natural fascination with the GT-R because it's like a dream you can never quite remember. It's there, and then gone again leaving hints of the memory behind to piece together. The idea of a car becoming a methphor representing that mystery, surprise and dominance is the fun part. That is what sets the GT-R apart from the competition ... Read More...

Rebuttal on Godzilla's GTR

have followed this discussion at great length and I am amazed at how the Nissan fans are so pumped up on this new, and I may add, good car they have produced. However, to state that the GTR is a better car than a Porsche is fanciful thinking. Furthermore, I believe this to be wishful thinking coming from people that can't actually own a Porsche or don't appreciate the ... Read More...

Which Porsche to buy

Re: 993 vs 996? [bullethead]

With all due respect to fedlawman, I think he is being excessively harsh on the 996. While it is true that many long time "enthusiasts" prefer the 993 to the 996, a big part of the resale value equation is supply and demand. I don't have the actual production numbers handy, but at the time they introduced the 996, Porsche also considerably ramped up production and ... Read More...

Re: 996 newbie to be needs advice [bullethead]

BH, In case you are still looking... Each 911 generation has its own personality and all provide a great driving experience. The 996 although a “water cooler”, is more comfortable and slightly bigger than the preceding generation. I would stay away from 99-2001 MY, Porsche had some difficulties with rear main seal leaks, an expensive repair if out of warranty! ... Read More...

996 newbie to be needs advice

Greetings: I have sold my 2002 M3 convertible and my 2003 530i sedan so that the wife could get a Volvo XC-90 V8 for hauling around the kids and dogs...I am left with a mint 2000 Toyota Landcruiser and a void in my heart for a nice toy car... I am looking into the merits of a late model 1999-2003 911 Cabriolet (I believe the "version" is called the 996 in Porsche parlance). ... Read More...

911 Questions - Novice first purchaser

I am considering my first Porsche, a 2002 911 Cabriolet. I drove it while vacationing in AZ last week. I know little about the cars, but am learning quickly. The car seems in excellent condition and was acquired at auction on the East Coast by the present dealer in used cars. It has the 18" wheels that seem to be a point of contention among owners due to vibration. I ... Read More...

Re: 2002 911 Coupe-Urgent advice sought please... [erichochman]

(1) "12,900 miles and almost brand new". That's more than enough miles to be broken in, but no guarantee that it was broken in properly. Do you have all of the service records and mileage logs? One thing I'd be concerned about is whether it has sat for extended periods of time (2+ months) without being driven. According to my dealer, this is another source of the infamous ... Read More...
