Two engine choices give the Cooper Clubman either terrific fuel economy or terrific performance. Not as sharp as the regular Mini, the Clubman still offers excellent control feel and response. "Fun to drive" is still high on its priority list.
Ride comfort is better in the Mini Clubman than in the standard car but is still busy in S styles. It also offers real backseats which are easily accessed via the third door on the passenger side.
Cargo space is excellent with rear seats folded flat but fairly small with them upright. Many instruments and controls suffer functionality due to retro design, but buyers who find novelty in this design won't mind the small compromise. The speedometer, in particular, is gimmicky in its size and placement. Otherwise, the Clubman is a highly functional premium small car.
As retro designs go, the Mini holds up well -- even into its second generation. Materials and assembly quality are quite high in the Clubman's interior. We haven't observed any panel fit problems.
Daily Commuter
The Clubman functions well in daily duty and does so with plenty of flair.
Fuel Efficient
Base-model Clubmans offer excellent fuel economy.
Luxurious
Premium small cars are rare. The Mini Clubman is one of only two offering this much luxury in a package this small.
