Buying a Used CJ or Wrangler

Used Wrangler Prices

I am looking at purchasing a used Wrangler. This will be my first Jeep. I priced out three used vehicles using the Edmunds pricing tool. In each case the Edmunds retail price was $4K below the price listed by the seller. All three vehicles were listed with Edmunds and the sellers were dealers and not individuals. For example, a 1997 Jeep Wrangler with 140K miles ... Read More...

Also check your driveshaft. Sometimes these get bent when lifted improperly to change tires. Read More...

Re: Water leak on Stereo by btrydel [yjbob]

I found this thread in the main forum from a couple of years ago: mac24, "Jeep Wrangler" #19968, 11 Oct 2005 3:08 pm Didn't see a fix other than see the dealer. There may be some other posts in one of the Wrangler maintence discussions. Most of the other leak threads seemed to concern wet carpet from leaks around the windshield. Read More...

Jeep Wrangler Maintenance and Repair Questions (1997 - 2006)

Re: 2005 jeep wrangler right hand drive automatic (vibration) [rtrunr]

This vibration is real different more of an up-and-down vibration. Can only guess of course, but it sounds like a tire problem. Probably one of the belts has separated which will require replacement of the affected tire. Read More...

2005 jeep wrangler right hand drive automatic (vibration)

I operate this jeep on my mail route and have developed a vibration (like driving over a washboard) that starts at 45 MPH and gets progressively worse the faster you go. I just had the tires balanced not too long ago (but will do again) but I have felt THAT sort of shimmy (side-to-side) before and the tire re-balance eliminated that problem. This vibration is real ... Read More...

Jeep Wrangler

Thank you Toledo, OH and Bedford, TX

Picked up Blue Rubi yesterday. Our sales lady had four wranglers on order. Only ours was made before the shutdown. Three customers cancelled because of the shutdown caused by the money boys. You three and others have our sympathy. Better_Half got a little teary eyed as she found our build sheet with dates of 4/27 and 4/28 and wondered what the assembly line workers ... Read More...

2005 Jeep Wrangler noise at over 50 MPH

Re: 2005 Jeep Wrangler noise at over 50 MPH [myxjs]

Thanks for the advice, decided to bring me Jeep to repair shop I trust to have them look it over, I was told the tires needed to be balanced, as you suggested. I was also told the tires I had were at the end of their life span, 50,000 miles was the recomended replacement time (I was at 52,000)...anyways the noise is gone, thank you for your advice. first i would start cheap, get ALL your wheels ballanced (about 10 dollars per wheel) then, if the problem persists, check your tie-rods Read More...

Jeep Wrangler Maintenance and Repair Questions (up to 1996)

Re: Front end death shake [wlfd]

Did you ever fix the shake? I am having the same problem and I am beginning to think it may be my tires out of balance. It is starting to shake real bad around 50mph. I replaced the steering shock and turned my rotors on the front. I have a stock 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited. Read More...
