I have a very close relative who had an XKE back in the early 70's and now has an 05 or 06 Jag.....2 completely different animals.... The newer one being inferior to the first. In fact my relative has said on numerous occasions that if they had it to do over again, they never would have purchased thier new Jag ( ford ) ... Just thier opinion..... I don't know where you're getting your information regarding Jaguar's reliability ratings...but they're dated at a minimum. Yes Jaguar used to be known as the Mechanic's Nightmare...but that was prior to Ford. What Ford has done for Jaguar's quality is nothing short of a full-fledged miracle. I read online that they are going to offer a new engine called eco-boost, and the new Taurus is going to have a SHO option. The new pictures shows a vast improvement over the 2009 Taurus with the inside looking very Accord like. I will definitely consider one when I buy my next car. Read More...

I consider the 2008 Mercury Sable (or Ford Taurus) to be a pretty good car. Car sales of large cars are all down this year versus last year - The Impala is way down, but is really a midsize based on interior dimensions, but is the top seller of the cars listed (152K for this year so far versus 210K last year at this time). For all its legitimate merits, something’s missing from the Taurus—and whatever it is, it’s probably fatal. Hopefully with the redesign in 2010 they correct many of the shortcomings of the current car and can seriously compete. Like you noted though, for the money this car is a great deal. "Boring ripped-off Audi" is a bit needlessly hostile in my book. Speaking as a fan of the Azera, I always have liked the Ford's exterior more than most people do. I was always a big fan of the Passat's lines, and the Ford is clearly just an enlarged version of them, which means it's automatically more tasteful right off the bat than 75% of the Big 2.8's output. while it is difficult to defend any British car in terms or reliability, I believe that you can point to the degree of sophistication in Jaguars (just like BMWs and MBs) as the real culprit for that checkered reliability. If there is one thing that Ford did help Jaguar do it probably is improving that reliability. Hyundai (as well as any of the other Korean mfgrs.) ... Read More...

Thank goodness Hyundai did not buy Jaguar. Jag is pretty and runs fast, but has very low reliability and very high repair costs. It would not help Hyundai become a really big player to saddle itself with an expensive, low volume, unreliable car. Read More...
