Not bad for 1st Diesel
Vehicle
2006 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 Laramie 4dr Quad Cab 4WD SB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)
Review
This is my 1st diesel picked it up used with 24k on it now up to 31k and I love it. The 5.9 has all the power you need and no EPA crap like the 08. Towing is not a problem. Get the Laramie pkg. Heated seats great in the winter. QC has lots of room for the kids. I have started this thing at -20 with no plug in around, truck starts right up. If your looking for a used diesel, go with this one for sure, you will love it
Favorite Features
Heated leather seats, Brakes work great. Fun truck to drive. MPG not bad, around 15-17 city and up to 23 Hwy
Suggested Improvements
Get the ashtray back in the dash. Heated rear window would help.

Go Cummings
Vehicle
2006 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 SLT 4dr Mega Cab 4WD SB (5.7L 8cyl 5A)
Review
Best truck, best vehicle I have ever had. Cummings will pull anything you have. Added larger tires to fill in wheel wells. Went from 265/70-17 to 285/70-17 added about 1 inch in height. Does very well off road. Get 19-20 city and 20-22 highway. If you are looking for a porsche ride go buy a porsche. This is a truck and rides accordingly. The only thing that has broken on it so far is the power seat. It will go up, back, forward but not down. Love the option of a sun roof. Huge back seat. Had to sit in it a couple of times. Love the fact that the back seat reclines. I will drive the truck until it falls apart.
Favorite Features
Cummings, sun roof, reclining back seat, tows anything
Suggested Improvements
Better cloth on the seats, body should be stronger, dents easily, should not have discontinued this model.
No nonsense review

This is a diesel megacab, 2WD review. 93000 on the odometer-maybe will be called the best overall vehicle I've owned. On the road 22.4 mpg, in town 19-no hot doggin, and yes, the truck is capable of spinning the tires- whenever. Great room for a big/tall guy, and the person behind him. Not an intown vehicle-is not a short radius turner, and at 7600#, it doesn't handle or brake like a Porsche. But it is a very capable truck. Ride is truck like. Removed a leaf in the rear to help soften ride-I don't haul much. Three decided mfg. defects- engine has a breather tube which drips black engine oil, exhaust pipe too short-soots the rear quarter panel, spokes on wheel (al) had chatter marks.
Favorite Features
Vehicle has low end torque emblematic of diesel-this is a nice characteristic. For a huge vehicle mileage is exceptional-but don't expect a Prius-note what I wrote above. Actually a capable highway machine w. the best cruise control I've ever had.
Suggested Improvements
I was sorry Chrysler discontinued this vehicle. Go figure.
This is a good truck in every way

Review
I purchased my 2006 Dodge 2500 5.7L 4WD SLT Quad cab new. It now has about 30k on it and has been an excellent truck. Nothing has ever broken, it drives great with excellent acceleration and braking, but definitely rides like a truck. The storage space under the rear seat is great. I live in the south and the AC cools pretty good, but could be a little better. Fuel economy averages just under 14MPG, if I do all city driving it drops to around 13.5. I bought this truck to drive for years and enjoy and so far I have gotten what I paid for.
Favorite Features
Reliability, performance and interior features.
Suggested Improvements
There is one U-joint that must be lubed at least once per year. Suggest replacing this u-joint with a sealed one, if this has not already been done on latter models.

Go Cummins Diesel
Vehicle
2006 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 SLT 4dr Quad Cab 4WD LB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)
Review
We needed a heavy tow rig with 4 wheel drive and economy. We have had the Dodge for over 3 years and 65K on it. No problems. Have upgraded rr suspension with supersprings, swaybar and ranchos, but we carry a 3k camper and tow a 3 horse trailer with draft horses, so we are 19k going down the road. We get 13 to 14 loaded and have done 23 empty. What i liked about the truck is it is set up well stock with big exhaust, nice alloy wheels, tow package, etc. so there was not a lot it needed. My stock tires went 58k, and I just did the ft. brakes at 62k. I run synthetic fluids all around. We plan on running the Dodge for a minimum 10 years at 20k per year, so we are right on plan and happy!!!
Favorite Features
Diesel power and longevity, economy. Limited slip stock, trip computer works well. Heat and a/c controls are good and easy to use. Towing mirrors are excellent when in use and easy to move back to normal. I like the flat floor option in the back and use it quite a bit.
Suggested Improvements
Pyrometer and transmission temp gauges and a brake controller should come with the towing package, or offer an upgraded tow package with those items. I would agree, those seats are a bit hard!

Love my Cummins

Review
I had an older Dodge 1500 which I hated. No power and the brakes were horrible. I went to the 06 diesel after comparing Ford and Chevy. Chevy was too expensive but has a nice transmission. Dodge had the Cummins. The brakes on the 06 are awesome. The comfort level and reliability are excellent. I pull a 50 hp Kubota tractor on a large trailor with implements with no problem. I'm getting about 18 - 20 mpg on a mix of highway and street driving. I find the back seat of the quad cab adequate for my needs. I'll be driving this truck until it or I won't go anymore.
Favorite Features
The exterior design and power when I need it. The open engine design. It is easy to perform standard maintenance on this truck.
Suggested Improvements
The only real improvements would be a slightly more powerful A/C and put the Allison transmission in it. Add a GPS and a bully dog to the base model while keeping the price down.

Smokin' Cummins
Vehicle
2006 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 Laramie 4dr Quad Cab 4WD SB (5.7L 8cyl 6M)
Review
This truck is a work horse in a business suit, black with chrome. Mileage is in the high teens if I baby it. My only complaint, the truck handles terrible. Wanders down the road and chases every groove. My F150 with 100k miles drove better than this truck the day it came off the lot new. Replaced the stearing stabilizer shock with an aftermarket and improved it somewhat. I'm the only owner, so I know it has been taken care of.
Favorite Features
Cummins power and fuel economy, Infinity sound system excellent for factory equipment.
Suggested Improvements
Seats too firm - handling/ drivability needs attention.

Review
I can't believe the power of this vehicle! Everything I need in a work horse to a family vehicle all in one. Its fun to drive! The torque can definitely pull everything i use it for. I usually pull a 8x24 triple axle enclosed trailer loaded with equipment. the Diesel Power pulls the trailer with absolutely no problems at all. Even up and down the mountains of South Carolina. My kids can sit in the back without comfort being a problem. The Laramie package was always a plus with the leather seats and trim. 5" lift kit, cap, bigger tires, and a chrome brush guard makes this beast a feared vehicle on the road. I traded in the HEMI power for Diesel. The Hemi just didn't pull.
Favorite Features
Exterior design and definitely the Diesel Power of CUMMINS! Quad cab helps fitting the family in more comfortably. The smoke on demand feature is always a plus for those tail gators.
Suggested Improvements
Built in Turbo and temp monitoring gauge somewhere in the dash.

I just purchased this truck used with 22k miles. I traded in my 01 Cummins and have zero regrets. With the six speed manual the 5.7 Hemi can be really fun to drive. The kids have plenty of room in the backseat and the front offers plenty of room for both driver and passenger.
Favorite Features
Six speed manual trans

The gas mileage could be better, but thats what I get for racing (and beating) every Ford or Chevy I can line up with!
