S40 Lease - good deal?
by elisco on Sat Apr 04 14:58:11 PDT 2009
Hi: Can you please tell me if this is a good deal? I have an offer to trade in my old Ford Explorer that has engine issues for a new 2009 S40 - promo model. Nothing fancy-no navi, no rims, no extras. The offer I've got on the table: 500 Down in addition to my trade in 15k miles per year 300 clean a month - inclusive of tax What do you think? They have 3 models of the car that I want, so I'm assuming I have some time. The problem I'm running into is that they too are saying the lending department will need a co-signer due to my credit history having only 1 paid off car long of under 10k. I would like to process the loan independently... but that's the story they are sticking to, with their lending instutiions. They said they checked with US Bank, their own lending dept and Ford. Ford was the only approval for me. Any information that might help would be greatly appreciated!

There is NOTHING that is bringing its resudual value now. Esp not in the SUV market. Lease co's are taking it on the chin. Many have stopped leasing all together because of the losses they are taking. But, that is why as a consumer you lease. You don't have to worry about resale value.
Re: XC90 Lease 36 month E.D? (European Delivery) [GeeSlimmy]

I am saying that you CANNOT lease a car via the European Delivery program UNLESS you use the standard VFNA rates. No bank or lease co will finance ot lease a European Delivery car. If you are leasing, take a car that is already at the dealership. If you can pay cash for a car, take the European Delivery option.

I'd be happy with the numbers you got. Couple of weeks ago went in but the numbers were ridiculously high. Has a few V8's and they've been sitting for months. Interested in a pearl white that he has sitting there for at least since October - with dark tan premium leather I think the list was 55,000. Also had a black/tan premium with Nav and that was listed at 57K. Hate the Volvo Nav and I have a Garmin anyway but the numbers were in the mid to upper 6's for a three and in the 7's for a two. WAY too high - he knows what I paid last time and even was looking at the deal sheet when we were talking. Gave indications that the deal was possible UNTIL he went to talk to the sales manager who jumped up the price. Our 06 subsidized deals were great but when I picked the car up in July of 06 I commented to my dad that they had to jack up the residual to 75% with a finance MF of .000012 to get my pre tax rate of 350 for two years. Since the XC90 is nearing the end of the line a high residual is crazy but if they want to move these things they have to seriously lower the money factor. Big money looser all way around but they just can't leave they sit - they'll bankrupt their dealers. My theory is with the financial losses these banks and manufacture finance co. are getting hit with lately - repos - they seem to be recouping their losses on those who they know can make consistent payments so they'll squeeze every drop at least on interest. Been to a Lexus dealer this last week and looked at a GX470. Not bad but a little too truck like. Lexus MF was .00112 and they discounted pretty decently without any haggling. Payments are in the 5's low.
