2009 G6 sedan specials
by occupant1 on Sun May 10 10:53:03 PDT 2009
A friend of mine purchased a plain jane white G6 sedan, 4-cylinder, automatic, no options at all, not even floor mats, for $15,112 out the door, no trade-in, paid cash. The price of the car was the advertised $13,990. This is after all regular rebates (no college, no military, no financing kickbacks). She told me there were eight of the cars on the lot that had that price on the windshield. The car is new, has 77 miles on it, and she couldn't be happier. Now she needs to sell her orange 2004 Cavalier LS Sport 2-door since her husband doesn't want to drive it. But the good news is her car only has 38K on it and should be an easy sell. They only offered her $2500 in trade and the car was mint. So she figured, pay cash for the G6 and sell the Cavy for $5000-$6000 on CL or something. She even took my advice and had a detailer go over it and make it look showroom perfect, under the hood and everything. Might be the best $160 she's ever spent on the car and it will likely seal the deal to any prospective buyers. If you're in the market for a G6 and can handle the basic 4-cylinder sedan, the deals ARE out there. That's G5/Cobalt price territory!
Build date is wrong...
by hammen2 on Fri Aug 24 07:28:55 PDT 2007
since the last car was built on June 6, 2006 and had an 838xxx VIN. Yours is probably right around the time that the blown strut issue was discovered, but the best way to determine is to have any GM dealer pull a GMVIS report on your car. The GMVIS report shows the ordering dealer and any warranty and service work that was done on the car - if yours is susceptible to the strut issue, it will have a GM program listed - if you see that mentioned, but no strut replacements under warranty, the work hasn't been done. Oh yeah, the GMVIS also shows the "build date" but, for our GTO's, this is NOT the date the car was assembled in Australia, but instead the date the spoiler was installed when the car got off the boat in California... GM put a ton of field reps into GTO's in July-August-September of 2006... those cars got between 2k and 6k miles on them, and were subsequently sold in a GM dealer-only auction... your car might be one of those, based upon its mileage. GMVIS is also useful because it will show you if the car was administratively bought back for any reason (someone in Waco, TX ended up with my first GTO, unfortunately for them...)

Hello, just bought a '06 Torrent with Preferred Pkg, Sun & Sound, Premium Pkg, XM radio, and 17" wheels for $22,600 + TTL. Sticker was $26,290. I think I got a pretty good price but I love to negotiate. ;)
2006 Pontiac Vibe Purchase in Houston
by kneehowma on Tue Nov 28 07:35:32 PST 2006
Just purchased a 2006 Pontiac Vibe from DeMontrond in Houston, TX. Sales person is nice, I would go back to him in a heartbeat; but get the usual mean-looking, high pressure sales manager coming to stare-you-down treatment. Here is the break down: MSRP $19455 = Base($16430)+destination($560)+AT($850)+power group($850)+16" wheels($440)+monotone($325) Invoice $18255 = Base($15526)+destination($560)+AT($748)+power group($748)+16" wheels($387)+monotone($286) Negotiated to: Vehicle($17600)-GM rebate($500)-Conquest Rebate($1000)+TTL($1024.07)+documentation fee($50)-GM card($2440.48)=$14733.59 With the vehicle price $655 lower than invoice, I think I did okay on the deal. From the negotiation to take delievery of the vehicle, it took 4.5 hours. However, I went to the dealership for the advertised moonstone colored Vibe(AT, ABS options) at $13588(after GM+conquest rebate)+TTL, so I got side-tracked and missed the great deal and bought the extra options. Maybe someone can fetch that deal after reading this post. Good luck to all car shoppers.
