Purchased a Base Vibe 2.4
by gofish on Mon Jun 08 18:17:24 PDT 2009
Purchased base w/2.4, preferred package (power options, remote entry, cruise and rear intermittent), A/C, 5 Spd Automatic, and MP3 radio. MSRP of $20,350. Negotiated a price before rebates of $18,570. Only dealer "add-on" fee was $150 doc fee. So taxable transaction was $18,720. Rebates were then as follows: $500 base, $500 dealer cash, $1000 loyalty, $1000 bonus cash. On top of that I had $3,062 in "topped-off" GM card rebates. Price before Tax/Tags/Title then was $12,658 and OTD was $13,994 (7% sales tax plus $25.50 temp tags and title). Oh yeah, also have $400 in Citibank Drivers edge rebates which is an "after sale" mail-in rebate (applicable to any car sale whatsoever) and will see 28% of the sales tax (.28 x $1310 = $367) come back to me in the form of the Obama fed income tax stimulus passed last February! It is a great time to buy if you're in the market. The Vibe was not my first choice but probably my 3rd or 4th and the money talked. Mileage certainly not the best in this segment and driveability as many have pointed out nothing like a Mazda 3. Just felt it was the best value all things considered. Very pleased so far
Re: buying question on used 06/07 vibes [sazajo]

oh, I would definitely take the 2006 with the bumper to bumper warranty knowing that I had 8 months to find any defects with the car. That is good piece of mind. As for mileage, it is totally irrelevant. I wouldn't care if the car had 50,000 miles on it because it is a Corolla and has a proven 200,000 engine. Enjoy your Vibe. I now have an '03 and '09.

GM will probably be around, but Pontiac will be toast just like Oldsmobile if their current troubles continue. Pontiac hasn't been a big selling division in a long time. If it ain't sellin' it must go...pure economics. If it wasn't for their troubles and the probable demise of Pontiac (IMHO) I too would trade my '05 BMW 330i w/ ZHP performance pkg. Oh well!

A reporter from a national newspaper would like to speak to consumers who recently purchased a new small or mid-sized car and either got great financing or cash back/incentives offered to them . If this is you, please respond to ctalati@edmunds.com with your daytime phone number by Wednesday, October 8, 2008.
2008 G6 in Ohio
by robertkaleal on Wed Feb 27 18:35:42 PST 2008
Hey! Would it be possible to quote me an approx lease price for a 2008 G6 Base with preferred package, sun and sound package, and XM satellite radio (total MSRP $22,290)? I live in Cuyahoga County, OH (8.5% tax, I believe) and would be indifferent to a 36 or 39 month lease and need 12,000 miles per year. I currently lease a GM vehicle and would retain that lease when I got this vehicle. I saw above that the rate was 3% but I wasn't sure that was for Ohio and I wasn't sure if the 56% residual quoted above was correct or not. I am also unsure of total incentives available. Thanks much
Build date is wrong...
by hammen2 on Fri Aug 24 07:28:55 PDT 2007
since the last car was built on June 6, 2006 and had an 838xxx VIN. Yours is probably right around the time that the blown strut issue was discovered, but the best way to determine is to have any GM dealer pull a GMVIS report on your car. The GMVIS report shows the ordering dealer and any warranty and service work that was done on the car - if yours is susceptible to the strut issue, it will have a GM program listed - if you see that mentioned, but no strut replacements under warranty, the work hasn't been done. Oh yeah, the GMVIS also shows the "build date" but, for our GTO's, this is NOT the date the car was assembled in Australia, but instead the date the spoiler was installed when the car got off the boat in California... GM put a ton of field reps into GTO's in July-August-September of 2006... those cars got between 2k and 6k miles on them, and were subsequently sold in a GM dealer-only auction... your car might be one of those, based upon its mileage. GMVIS is also useful because it will show you if the car was administratively bought back for any reason (someone in Waco, TX ended up with my first GTO, unfortunately for them...)
