Re: Help! What's the "Value Leader" G6 Model? [jfritsch]
by pfine on Sun Aug 16 07:02:50 PDT 2009
Thanks for the info but has anyone ever owned one? It seems to be stripped below even the base model and is not even mentioned in the Pontiac brochure or website. (Some info is buried in the website but only under certain categories one must search for.) We'll see. Set to talk to a dealer this week. Only a few of this model is available in the area and may be had for a significant discount. They are the ugly duckling loss leaders and perhaps they will be cut down even more than others. And as for the C4C benefiting foreign makers, you can thank certain redneck congressmen of a certain party who changed the original legislation to force that into the law. It was originally supposed to be for US Big-3 auto company products only. Amazing what having a Hyundai plant in your state's backyard, and your back-pocket, will do to a legislator's decisionmaking... Still, "among manufacturers, General Motors Co. had the largest share, accounting for 18.7 percent of new sales, followed by Toyota Motor Corp. with 17.9 percent. Ford Motor Co. was third with 16 percent of the sales. Detroit automakers represented 45.3 percent of the total sales while Japan's Toyota, Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. accounted for 36.5 percent." Good for GM.

Sounds like you got a great deal. $300 below the OLD invoice amount! Not sure if this is the best way to sell privately, but these methods have been successful for me in the past. 1. Totally detail the car inside and out. Make it as clean and shiny as those on the lot. 2. Take it to a well known trusted garage (I've used the dealer garage) and pay for them to give it a total inspection, the same as if you were looking to buy the car. Make sure you get their written checklist and make copies to give to those interested in buying. 3. Get the Carfax report on it and also make copies. 4. Advertise both on the internet, paper and on free community bulletin boards. 5. Put for sale signs on the car and make sure it is at visible well traveled areas. 6. Let family, friends and co-workers know that is for sale. Even if they aren't looking they may know someone who is. Buying from someone you know or knows someone you know makes people more open to buying privately. 7. Use the internet to really research how much you should ask. Look how many similar vehicles are for sale in your area, and how much they are asking. Leave yourself some wiggle room between the asking price and how much you really want. No one wants to pay full price for anything! Good luck!

Forget about the BBB. Most dealers may not even belong because they would have 100000 bad marks. I'm assuming you just want to ditch the LO Jack and 1900? AFTERMARKET? waranty? Tell the dealer you want a refund of your money and you will give him a glowing customer survey score. Otherwise you will be very unhappy Tell him if you don't get a survey you will request one. This is one of the major levers (if he is teterring on scores) you can have at this point. Aftermarket warranty may be already paid and you may need to contact the company for refund terms. Not a GM bumper to bumper warranty for $1900 but some warranty co? 3/36 and 100k mi powertrain already standard. A GM factory 7yr/100k mi b-b warranty extension service contract should have cost $400-700 bucks. Not to criticize you but why these forums are flooded with "I paid X how did I do?" is beyond me. Signing the docs then researching seems bass -ackwards but it is the rule not the exception here. Good luck --jjf I bought the 09Vibe during the employee discount for everyone day. Now I have learned that the discount varies from car to car or dealer.Approximatley 10 percent or less. Employee Discount below ? % percent Rebate 500 $ GM Reward 700 The sticker with option prefered package, air con, automatic was 18,640. The car price after the employee discount 17,744...Is that right? It would have been a great deal , but I signed up for LO jack 500+Vehicle Replacement Program 1,000 package. Extended Warranty 1900 Gap Insurance 700 I have no problem with the loan , I have a good FICA score.Loan at 5.35% After Sleeping on it and reading the fine prints,I discovered some negative points and so I first cancelled the GAP.No problem there but as soon as the bank paid the dealership. No one wants to help me get the cancellation process started with the all the cancellation which I have the right to have.I informed the third third party company and told them not to process and or cancell it. I showed up twice at the dealerrship to tell I dont want it.And rewite the contract. But they said you cant rewrite the contract becuase the bank paid them ,they knew that fact already but no even said,"Yes we can cancel it and then we will just refund the bank" One of the sales person even told me "are they going to refund you ?" referring to the third party company when they havent gotten the money nor the papers.I have been emailing the dealers finance department, left messages on the voice mail .Then I finally got hold of the finance person, then that person asked the manager first about it my request .Then told me that the papers will be ready the following day for me to complete. So I when went back , there was no paper, then the other finance person of the day with an condescending attitude told me to write the letter to cancel it.Now NO ,one not one even told me to write a letter for request for cancellation when I first wanted them those cancelled What the heck have I been doing for for the past 8 days..who is getting my emails ,my messages.. Also they told me I cant cancel the LO Jack when they havent even installed it yet...care to explain anyone. Its not over yet because I dont have any confirmation letter and in writting that the amount is going to be returned to the bank. I will update this post untill I see that money back in the bank. Or else i will report them to BBB and I will do everything in the book to get them a red mark

Thanks both of you! I finally caved today..panic mode since my current vehicle goes to the insurance co in a few days. Drove a 2004 GLSTurbo Jetta wagon that was SWEET...almost got it ($$$13000/ 39000 miles)...BUT cannot pull a boat and heard VW Service is high cost$$$ as are the Jettas. So...ran back to the Pontiac dealer. There are almost ZERO '08 Matrix's here as well. I like the Vibe's design much better. (09's stink) So...I called the local Vibe dealer back...he put me in a "loaner" (2000+ miles...mostly geriatric Caddy owners (Its a Cadillac-Pontiac Dealer) and not the White I wanted (It's a Blue-Grey with clad), no Sun and Moon OR ABS (WAAAA!) BUT dropped to below $16,000. (After $$2000 rebate) so walked out the door $17,402. $3400 less than the car I tried to get...(wanted ...White, clad, ABS,Sunroof...BUT figured a sunroof, ABS and "on star" was NOT worth $3400 more!) It's HOT here and everyone I know with a sunroof keeps them closed...so, why did I want it??? NO clue.(scratchin head) I know I could have , perhaps, gotten this '08 for a little less but I was not in the mood to haggle it more. He TRIED to sell it to me for $18,430 out the door. UH Uh. I'm a woman..figures he'd try that...LOL! He refused to budge on the final price, and was going to let me walk if any lower than the $17400 (tax, etc incl). So...that was what I paid. Hey! Gotta FULL tank of gas too!!! Hehheh! One thing...do NOT like the interior/seat covers..DARK GREY-BLACK??? NOT so Lovely in the summer.... going to get beige seat covers this week. So far...love the zip and the road feel..for a small cyl. I am migrating from a sluggish 4 cyl auto pick up truck with NO pick up!...lol. YAY!

You can find the GM cash rebate (as well as dealer inventory) on GMBUYPOWER.com. The GM cash rebate could be different in each geographic region. Cash rebate means you are going to pay for the car entirely (i.e. not financing through GMAC). If you don't have that kind of cash but want to get the cash rebate, you could secure the loan through your bank/credit union and use that loan to pay for the entire car and receive the rebate. Conquest rebate is Pontiac's way of attracting non-GM car owner to buy their product. Basically if you own a non-GM vehicle, you can get a $1000 Conquest rebate now through Jan 2, 2007. I actually don't have non-GM vehicle (I own a Chevy and Oldsmobile), so what I did is co-sign the title to my brother and my name, and showed a copy of his car insurance with the non-GM vehicle on there, and was able to qualify for the rebate. You do NOT need to trade in the vehicle, only to show proof that you have a non-GM vehicle in the household.
Colorado Deals on '04?
by honkinunit on Sun Jan 02 20:13:57 PST 2005
Unfortunately, CO is in GM's Western region, which only had the $3500 rebate. gmbuypower.com shows over 50 '04 GTO's at dealers in the Denver area, so I have to believe there will be some kind of additional incentives. This is not a Colorado kind of car... Does anyone have any inside they would like to share?   My bottom line is this. I'll buy an M6 if I can get it for 22k. It looks like some people in the east have hit this price. I don't have a GM card (I used to have one, and cancelled it after I used the rebate to buy my pickup in '99). I'd sure be willing to get another one though, if it saved me $5000!
