PEP doesn't include sunroof, that is PEP plus. Check Hyundai website. OTD is freight, taxes, processinf fee, tag, title. In VA most dealers charge a ~$380 processing fee. Not that high in some states. YMMV

Allow me to chime in...we got a SF Limited for a STEAL...the dealer lost over $1,000 on the sale of THAT car, but as the manager explaiend to me, it was the last day of the month and I was the last customer, and if I bought the car, the the dealer would meet the next level of sales volume in their agreement with Hyundai, which kicks in an incentive for each car the dealer sold that month. I knew this going in, and I called every dealer in the NW to find one that would match my very low-ball price. I had to drive three hrs, but it was worth it, and the dealer by my house could not even come close.

Purchased a 09 GLS with PEP & floor mats at Fairfax Hyundai for $16,391 OTD. The price quote was ~ $600 lower than they have on their website.. I had to drive 165 miles to pick up but over $2K lower than local dealer. On the way home the computer said avg of 37 mpg with speed 45-60 mph.. Happy with the car & the deal.
08 Santa Fe GLS

I needed to dump my 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It had 91,500 miles on it, a big dent in the front, needed a rear brake job, had a rebuilt tranny and the extended warranty had expired. I knew I was going to put in between 4 and 5k worth the work within the next year. 3 weeks ago we went to a Hyundai dealer here in CT to look at the 08 Santa Fe's since there were good rebates from Hyundai and the interest rates were real low to finance. Mind you I had called about 5 dealerships to get pricing on the Santa Fe before we went to the dealership near our home. One dealership quoted me $20,345 for a basic AWD. They were far away in distance. I used that price as the bargaining chip when I went to the dealer. So my wife and I were walking the lot and were approached by a salesman. It was the same salesperson that we dealt with when we were there 14 months earlier (I didn't buy then). He said he could do $1 dollar below invoice. I cut to the chase and said point blank that he would need to beat $20,345 for an AWD 08 Santa Fe and I don't want to take a bath in trade for my car (Even though I knew I was going to take some sort of a loss). He laughed at first. When we were walking away he yelled "we can go talk to the sales manager". So we did. The sales manager went through his inventory log and said he had a few Santa Fe's and could do around $22,000 for one that had an upgraded package. This price included a rebate. So we sat down at the salespersons desk and he went through the shpeal. He said he wanted to make a copy of the registration of my trade. I said that we were going to leave and grab lunch and that we would talk it over. He then said when we got back all we would have to do is sign and the car was ours. I FELT DIRTY. Like I was being sleized by car salesman. So after lunch I called the salesperson back and said thanks for your help but we're going to check out the dealership that offered $20,345. The salesperson put me on hold and the sales manager picked up. I told him I thought I was being sleized and I was going to the other dealership. I also said I was not "WOWED". That seemed to work. All of a sudden there was a little bit more money in rebates, a mysterious low financing rate with Bank of America, which allowed them to give us more $$ off. We ended up purchased the vehicle for about $21,000 plus a few services. I think the final price might have been $20,700. My wife is the numbers person and knew once we cut through the B.S. we got a decent deal. I think she said we needed to sign and escape quietly. I always feel that you never win with a car dealership :D :D . I did lose on the Jeep but not that much. I love the Santa Fe and recommend it.
08 Santa Fe Limited

FWD Black exterior Tan Leather Navigation Tow Pkg flaps, matts, cargo pad 6 Oil change/tune ups $26,601 OTD (about $2,500 in tax/dmv) 3.9% finance + $2K down + $3000 rebate We used info from edmunds and the consumer reports 'New Car Pricing Report' and confirmed that even after dealer holdback the dealer lost about $700 +/- I don't feel bad b/c I know they're making money on volume. And we saw another couple there who wanted our car (they only had one with Nav on the lot). I saw their salesman offer them 3.5K off MSRP to order them what they wanted, and they jumped for joy...suckers. If they hadn't been giving us evil eyes for taking 'their' car, I'd have filled them in on the $24K they should be negotiation up from and given them the Consumer Reports wholesale pricing guide. But it's water off my back...dealership can afford to make me happy and them, right? Anyway, we had a great salesman, very friendly and honest from the start. This dealer pays the salesmen the same despite your cost, so they're up for working for you. He was pretty happy with my deal, I think (for me, that is). It was only the trade-in that I really had to work the dealer on. In the end, I got what I wanted (another loss for him, probably), but they just need to move anything, and I know this. This was Roseville Hyundai. I have looked at this dealership in the past and had awful experiences with sales people (one cussed at me as I walked out!), so I was hesitant to return, but this gentleman was a pleasure! I'd send my own mother to him. :) Thanks to those who have assisted me by posting earlier, so I hope this pays it forward. Let me know if you have any questions. Blessings, Emily
Re: Raleigh NC area - Sonata 4 cyl Limited - [ellisda1]
by brant99 on Tue Dec 30 09:15:16 PST 2008
I purchased a 4-cylinder Sonata Limited (no Nav) from Bob Dunn Hyundai in Greensboro last Sept after shopping the Raleigh/Fayetteville/Greensboro area for a few days. My final negotiations involved Omar at Johnson Hyundai in Cary, NC and Lee at Bob Dunn. Overall, both were very good to deal with. Omar was very personable, knowledgeable, and was not high-pressure. However, once in the final stages of making a deal, he did attempt to use what I believe to be a dealer-directed tactic to bad-mouth/cast-doubt-about the competition (Bob Dunn); this put me off somewhat and I quickly informed him to refrain from continuing to use this tactic with me which he did. Lee was straight-forward, continued to ask for my business, did not comment about the competition, and was especially responsive via email. Although I live 9 miles from Johnson Hyundai, I made the 150 mile round-trip drive to Bob Dunn because I got a significantly better deal than what is indicated in the original post. My car-buying experience with Bob Dunn was excellent and there were no hidden surprises whatsoever in my deal with them. Johnson is a shiny new dealership in Cary with lots of amenities. Bob Dunn is an older facility without the frills. I suspect Johnson has much higher facilities overhead than Bob Dunn, thus the use of the bad-mouth tactic to turn business away from Bob Dunn.
