I went ahead with the purchase of this car. So far I am really impressed. This car is quiet, comfortable and reasonably powerful. The interior is put together nicely and has a quality feel to it. I would put it right up there with Honda and Toyota and ahead of Nissan. The dealer experience was great. Knauz Hyundai in Lake Bluff, IL. I recommend this dealer to anyone in the Chicago area looking for a Hyundai.

Well, the 2.4 in the Sonata gets a combined 25MPG while the 2.0 in the Elantra has a combined of 28MPG. Considering the Sonata is around 600 pounds heavier, stuffing the 2.4 in the Elantra would probably incur a 1 or, at most, 2MPG penalty for almost 40HP more. Some people would take that trade-off.

I was recently quoted $15,113, plus tax, title, and license for an Elantra Touring automatic with floor mats, cargo tray, and mud guards, from Pugi Hyundai in Downers Grove, IL, near Chicago. I purchased my 2006 Elantra GLS sedan from them, and they're good people. The $15,113 price was an outright purchase price, including the $1,500 rebate.

EMISSION CONTROLS
by mvls1 on Sun Feb 15 20:53:28 PST 2009
I am considering purchasing a 2008 Azera Limited from out of state. I live in California and would purchase possibly from CO, PA, IL or another state. I believe that the emission controls are all the same now and any Azera would meet my states requirements. Can anyone confirm if this is in fact correct? Also, I would like to know about the seat comfort on this model for trips of 100 or more miles. Is the leather stiff, how is the seat padding, is the seat back/lumbar comfortable and are the adjustments adequate, especially for the front passenger. Any other information with regards to driver and passenger comfort would be appreciated. Bruce
Purchased a 2008 Sonata GLS V6

$12k, 21k miles from Wilkins Hyundai in Elmhurst, IL. Pricing was very, very simple, only had car, title, and taxes to pay. They gave me the exact amount CarMax was offering for my trade. Can't beat the 100k mile warranty as it was certified. Plus it has the moonroof. I am wondering why this thing was so low priced, but that dealer seems to beat everyone else, including Gartner (who were also nice, btw). I am happy so far, handles fine in the snow. The only thing I dislike is the narrow wheelwell clearance. It makes it difficult to kick the snow, road ice from the whell well liners.
