Re: Looking for best lease deals for 2008 335i Coupe and 335i Convertible [

Hi nm_socal. Let's crunch some numbers and see what sort of payments this car would have. According to my calculations, if you were to lease a 2008 BMW 335i Coupe that has an MSRP of $46,100 and a selling price of $42,925 ($500 over dealer invoice, which represents a very good deal) through BMW Financial Services right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, your zero down, pre-tax monthly payment would be around $621, assuming that you are a returning BMW FS lessee or pay a security deposit at lease signing. I calculated a zero down lease because it is in your best interest to put as little money down as possible when leasing. As you can see, this payment is quite a bit higher than what you were looking for even after assuming a very thin deal. I used a money factor and residual value of .00245 and 58% to calculate this payment. Let's work up a payment on the convertible now. According to my calculations, if you were to lease a 2008 BMW 335i Convertible that has an MSRP of $53,600 and a selling price of $49,835 (again $500 over invoice, which might not even be attainable) through BMW Financial Services right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, your zero down, pre-tax monthly payment would be around $730. Again, this is higher than you were hoping for. I used a money factor and residual value of .00275 and 59% to calculate this payment. Car_man Host Prices Paid: Buying & Leasing Experiences Forum

24 year old in over her head

Help....someone....please... Hi townhall, I'm a 24 year old daughter trying to help my dad. Because he's old and a lil incompetent, I have to help him... because he's a really nice guy and often doesn't know what he's doing, and he gets ripped off and taken advantage of alot. Anyways, him and his business partner want to each lease a 2008 BMW 528xi. My dad's business partner knows what he's doing better than my father, but i feel like he too is gettting ripped off. If they were smart, they would have gotten a hell of a good deal because they are leasing TWO cars through thier corporation...but alas....the bmw dealer got the best of them, in my opinion The car that he is trying to push onto my dad, a BMW 528xi, with navigation, satellite radio, cold-weather, ipod integration, and premium package is not even the car that my dad wants, it has a bunch of extras in it. And still they won't budge on any numbers. Anyways, for this car, the bmw dealer told my dad that he was giving him a really good deal by giving him 1,300 off of the MSRP ($53, 220) and giving him a lease of 895.06 a month. My dad also has to give a security deposit and 900$ up front. He saidthe selling price is $51,920 and that the residual value is $31,932.00 This whole thing sounds like utter hogwash to me from what I have been reading here. For a 36 month lease, 15,000 miles, 0 down payment, on a bmw 528xi...that is waaay too much....right? I admit that i'm way in over my head here, and, i'm really confused by everything but i'm trying to figure it out by reading everyone's posts. So that's why i'm sincerely asking for help. Can someone tell me what the invoice price, the selling price, the msrp, the money factor, the lease payments shoud be? And can someone explain to me what these things mean, and how to go about this? Thank you all very much. I really really really appreciate your help Sincerely, NM
Negotiating on Money Factor
by nmkev on Fri Aug 31 18:44:16 PDT 2007
I turned in a 525i last August; was told I'd have 12 months to return and get a break. I did so and was told, no it is 6-months. I calculated the current X3 lease special offer on the BMW website to be a money factor closer to .00150, but am certain my math could be bad even with the lease calculator. My visit to the dealer was over a 2007 X3 with various packages in NM. The dealer quoted me an MSRP ~$43,500 and residual was ~$29,500. On a 36-month, 12K miles, $2500 down, they quoted $579/mo. I was taken back thinking I could do better. Near as I can tell that results in a money factor much more than .00215 (again, I don't get along with numbers). When I returned home and did some calculation I am figuring that I should be able to negotiate pricing down to ~$41K or so. I also figure I can argue the .00150 as a returning lease customer where I was originally told I had 12 months. Based on those figures and my "lease calculator" entries I get my monthly down to ~$380. The salesperson told me that the lease monthly payment does not vary much based on vehicle without options and those with. I tend to think that is wrong. They also said that the residual is based on MSRP (so then the difference financed remains fairly consistent) and why the previous statement was true. Therefore I should take that to mean that the lease payment should not vary that much between models with or without options. As I mentioned I am not sure that is accurate. I would appreciate comments on negotiating the money factor, arguing for the returning lease customer discount. It would also be good to hear comments on comparing their offer to the online lease "special deal" on the BMW website. Finally, should I be negotiating on a vehicle with less options if I frankly don't need them to get the pricing down considerably. I was surprised to see that their quote of $579/mo was almost $200 more than my calculation -- almost insulting. What I do know about numbers is an extra $7200 is a bad deal. Cheers.
