Not a bad vehicle for the price.

1993 Chevrolet Cavalier 2 Dr Z24 Coupe

Not a bad vehicle. My wife and I purchased this vehicle with only about 9K miles on it about 3 years ago! What a steal! Now it only has about 57K miles on it. Not bad on performance and the handling is great.
Favorite Features
Handling and performance. Accessories are convinient to get to.
Suggested Improvements
Definitely needs some improvement on gas mileage as well as quality. But other than that nice car.

Review
The 93 cavalier RS convertible was my first car. I got this car when it had 193000 miles! For a car that has this many miles its been a good car! I have only put 3000 mile on it since I've got it with only minor work done!
Favorite Features
The look of this car isn't bad however the thing I like the most is its dependable!
Suggested Improvements
Keep it tuned up and who knows where you'll go!

Turn and run!
Vehicle
1993 Chevrolet Cavalier 2 Dr Z24 Coupe
Review
Where do I start? First off, if you live anywhere north of Illinois, do not get this car. Horrible heating! Within 3 weeks two spark plugs blew out of the head. I had to re-thread both of them. They did this on a cold start! It had a leak in the car,(Water) Which I could never pinpoint. I would have four inches of standing water in the rear floor wells. I have had two coil packs go bad. This is a joke to even think you can replace them. They are on the front of the engine and its takes a mechanic two hours. Replacing the heater core is supposed to be easy, Wrong! It is plastic, yes plastic from the top of it to the lines that hook up. The suspension, is rough.
Favorite Features
Engine , when running proper, flat out flies!
Suggested Improvements
Take the engine, put a cast head on it, and rebuild the same car but pay attention to what customers are saying

Perfect for me

I wanted to add my 2 cents and give love to my 93' Cavalier that I am trading in within the next week. I have had this car since 1997 and have drive it from Iowa to St. Louis<400 miles> over 50 times! and only once did I have problems with it<my fault too>Kept the lights on while eating<battery died>I must say this car has been nothing but perfect for me.This car is good for those who accidently forget to change the oil every 3K. I have driven this car to the point of me thinking how many miles can I put on this beauty. I would be keeping it but with a baby in my life I need something a little more NEWER!

One time I replaced 4 batteries in 2 months, but after adding the 5th one, it has been used for over 2 years now. It is still a mystery what was wrong.

I love the fuel economy, but I hate the leaky trunk, and cracked heads which I checked, it is a common problem with these cars. Overall I have had it for about 2 and a half years, and it wasnt until recently that I have had any probems with it. It broke down 3 times in the course of a week which I didnt appreciate. Overall, I like the car, Im planning on buying a newer model possibly a 97 or 98 with the new body style.

Fix the leaky trunks, and the durability of the engine

Good car

I don't know if I just got lucky, but my cavalier ran for over 130,000 miles with little to no repairs on it. Only after 130,000 did anything need to really be fixed.

From 1993 to 1999, the main problems were the coolant was always missing due to a temperature gaurge problem, hose problem or some othe problem. In 1999, all heck started to break lose. The brakes failed totally in 1999 and I luckily made it home safely (back brakes only). From 1999 on, various things happened included all the injectors failed, the ignition module failed, the head gaskets failed, etc.. The most annoying thing that made the repairs not worth it: the car started to look bad. The paint started to fake, the brake light started to melt, and the inside of the door would scorch your arm because the metal would get too hot in the sun.
Favorite Features
The radio - you will never find a better radio in a cheap car.

The coolant system needs an overhaul. The major repair in 2003 would not have mattered if I wasn't making coolant system repairs every year.

This car is a lemon
Vehicle
1993 Chevrolet Cavalier 4 Dr RS Wagon
Review
Right from the start there have been problems with this car. The engine has been remounted 3 times due to a design defect that causes the engine to not fit properly into the vehicle. This makes the front end vibate constantly, especially when idling. It is not considered a safety problem by GM. But it can cause other parts to fail or break from the vibrations. Also the coolant system has had constant problems and many replacements. It is now leaking due to a rotted head gasket. Dealer repairs have been unsatisfactory. I would not recommend this car or any other GM vehicle to anyone.
Favorite Features
The air conditioning is ok and I like the power windows.
Suggested Improvements
The cavalier is a dinosaur. They should discontinue the model and design a whole new low priced model.

Good Performance For The Money
Vehicle
1993 Chevrolet Cavalier 2 Dr Z24 Coupe
Review
Overall this car has been very reliable and fun to drive. The Z24 has performance that the other cavaliers in 1993 didn't have. It comes with a 3.1 V6 that has some good power and acceleration. The look of the exterior is very nice and sporty. The interior is basic and comfortable in the front seats. The back seat can be tight for taller people. I have only had minor problems so far. I have 109000 miles on it now. It still has the original transmission and it is working fine.
Favorite Features
1. Fun to drive, good acceleration 2. Decent fuel economy 3. Sporty look 4. Fairly reliable
Suggested Improvements
1. Basic car, lacks some of the newer car features (climate control, fold down back seat, ect...) 2. Gets rust spots frequently 3. Not a great winter car

This bad boy has taken me to NY from VA and back about 10 times. It has battle the narrow curvy backroads of VA and has taken on the pot holes and wild taxi drivers in NY. No wonder I need shock work! And most importantly it has never left me on the side of the road. Every time I try to find a reason to sell it I cant. Sincerely, New Chevy Fan 1993 Chevy Cavalier VL 2D
